How do I keep my sunless tan from fading so quickly during the cold winter season?
Updated: Sep 21, 2021

WINTER BLUES, the sky starts to turn grey, dark, gloomy, wet & snowy..... It puts fear in us sunless babes because we are worried our tans will fade away HORRIFICALLY! (cue the killer slash music) Winter season brings cold temperatures and low humidity levels result in dry air that draws moisture away from the skin. With a sunless tan this is basically a death wish for the tan, BUT we can help reduce the lack of moisture with these simple tips ;)
- Avoid long, hot showers and baths. While a hot bath or shower can feel SO GREAT during the winter, it can strip your skin of important oils. When possible, use warm or lukewarm water instead, including when you wash your face or hands. *PRO TIP - Use your GLO SOAP BAR to gently buff your tan, keep your skin hydrated, and allow for an even fade away.
- Choose a different more winter appropriate moisturizer for your skin. The moisturizer you currently use may not cut it during cold and dry months. With that said, thicker doesn’t mean better when it comes to moisturizers so don't run out looking for body butters. We LOVE hydrating lotions such as our COCO TAN EXTENDER which is a 100% Pure Hemp Seed Oil lotion that will keep your skin soft, glowing, and hydrated all day.
- Don’t forget the sunscreen. Sunscreen isn’t just for hot summer months. Winter sun, combined with glare from the snow, can seriously damage your skin. Get our favorite GLO SPF!
- Say NO to UV-Tanning. Many people think a tanning bed can provide the vitamin D they’re lacking during dark, short, cold days, but in fact, the damage a tanning bed can do to your skin far outweighs any temporary boost. If you read my previous blog post you know how harmful both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation has on cell damage that leads to skin cancer. *Need an extra boost of bronzing glow in between sessions? Snag our COCO TANNING DROPS to make any moisturizer, serum or oil into your own custom made tan. Remembering these simple tips will not only help keep your skin from drying out this winter, but also keep your sunless tan fading nice and evenly. Say GOODBYE to dreaded dry alligator skin and HELLO to a hydrated glow!
